Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala 2.0 scheme :
Prime Minister Narendra
Modi launched the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana(PMUY) on
May 1st, 2016 to provide clean cooking fuel to women from
Below Poverty Line (BPM) households in the country.
Main Objective:
1. Accessibility and Availability :
PMUY's primary objective is to make Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) available and easily accessible
to rural and deprived households.
2. Health
and Environment:- women from the remote village used traditional cooking
fuels which were generated from firewood, coal, and cow dung cakes, which had a
critical impact on both health and the environment.
3. Target
of Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala yojana 2.0:- Previously the target of the scheme
aimed to release 8 crore LPG Connections to the BPL households by March 2020
but during 2023-2024 to 2025-2026 PMUY's main mission is to give special
facility to migrant families where additional 75 lakh LPG ujjwala gas
connection will be provided .upto march 2023 9.59 crore Beneficiaries got the
benefit of the scheme.
4. Implementation:
PMUY promoted a clean and green cooking environment by reducing the exposure to
harmful smoke in the lives of rural women. it provides financial
assistance to the eligible beneficiaries to obtain an LPG
connection.
Eligibility and
Documents for PM Ujjwala Yojana 2023
Eligibility Criteria
- Should be an Indian citizen
- Should be morethan 18 years of
age
- Should be a woman from a BPL
family who doesn't have an LPG connection
- Should not previously get any
benefit under similar schemes
- Beneficiaries name should be in the list of SECC 2011 or BPL household under SC/ST Category, PMAY (Gramin), AAY, Most-Backward-Classes (MBC), forest , people residing in river islands,dwellers or Tea and Ex-Tea Garden
Tribes.
Documents Required
- BPL Ration Cards or Certificate issued by the
municipality chairman or Panchayat Pradhan/Sarpanch/Block Development Officer,Civil Supply Inspector.
- Caste certificate .
- One passport-sized photograph
- Photo identity proof
- Address proof
- BPL ration card
- Aadhaar numbers of family member.
- Bank passbook or details of
Jan Dhan's bank account
- Duly signed Prescribed format of 14-points
declaration form.
